WEARING OF PE KIT ON SCHEDULED PE DAYS: AFTER FEBRUARY HALF TERM
I am writing to inform you of an important update regarding our approach to clothing on scheduled PE days that will take effect after the February half term. Starting from Monday, 23rd February, all children will be required to come to school on their scheduled PE days wearing their school PE kit.
This change has been carefully considered and aims to reduce the time spent changing before and after PE lessons, thereby maximising valuable curriculum time. We also anticipate that this will minimise the risk of lost property that often occurs when children change into and out of their PE clothing.
To ensure that all students are appropriately dressed for their PE activities, we would like to remind you of the required PE uniform, which consists of the following items:
• Black shorts, leggings, or jogging bottoms
• Plain white or RdC branded white PE top
• Burgundy school jumper, cardigan, or fleece
• Trainers
• Socks
A spare pair of trainers and socks should be packed into your child’s school bag (or in an alternative backpack) and a black sweatshirt/ jumper can also be included if an additional layer is needed.
It is essential that all children wear their burgundy school jumper along with their PE clothing to maintain uniformity and a sense of belonging across the school community. We ask that you are supportive in ensuring that uniform does not stray from that listed above including alternative tracksuits and branded sports items as these do not meet our school uniform requirements. Should these items be worn, children will be provided spares and asked to change on arrival at school.
To facilitate this transition, class teachers will share your child’s specific PE days on Class Dojo and will set up weekly reminders to assist you in keeping track of this new arrangement. We kindly ask for your cooperation in ensuring that your child is fully prepared for their PE lessons, and dressed appropriately on the correct days, as this will greatly contribute to their overall experience and engagement in physical education.
For children in Reception, class teachers will communicate with you ahead of the summer term (Monday 13th April) regarding your child’s arrangements for PE to give you the necessary time to purchase the appropriate clothing. Until then, this notice does not apply to pupils in Reception.
For children who attend a lunchtime or after school club on a day which is not aligned with their class PE day, appropriate kit including spare shoes and socks will need to be brought to school on the relevant days.
We appreciate your continued support and understanding. If you have any difficulty in providing your child with the correct clothing and uniform for PE, please speak with a member of the school office who will do their best to support you with items from our pre-loved uniform store. If you have any questions or require further clarification regarding this change, please do speak with your child’s class teacher.
