School Uniform

Richard de Clare encourages the wearing of school uniform and it is hoped that all parents choosing to send their child to the school or nursery support this policy.

In the interest of gender equality, all items and variations in uniform can be adopted by any child should they wish to wear them.

For sweatshirts, cardigans and polo-shirts our school logo/branded items are preferred and encouraged, however parents may source plain unbranded items in the correct uniform colours from high-street or supermarket outlets.

All school logo/branded items are available online from www.baldwins-departmentstores.com or can be purchased directly from:

Baldwins of Halstead, 12 The Centre, Halstead, CO9 2AJ

Please note that Baldwins is closed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

School Bags

A plain burgundy book bag or book bag with the school badge/logo can be purchased from Baldwin's of Halstead. Any other small bag/rucksack is suitable for school however we ask that these are small in size and items are kept to a minimum and those only needed for school. This is due to limited storage space in classrooms and cloakrooms.

Pre-Loved Uniform

To support our community and make the most of recycling opportunities for school uniform, we have a Pre-Loved Uniform store within our school that parents can use to supplement their child's uniform with second-hand, additional or replacement items. The store is regularly restocked from donations to the school and unclaimed lost property. Parents can request items in their children's size by speaking with a member of the pastoral team or the school office. We are that parents make a small donation for the items that they obtain.

All proceeds go towards ongoing projects within the school.

Jewellery:

Pupils with pierced ears are able to wear a small, plain stud. No dangly or hoop earrings are to be worn due to health and safety regulations. All pupils wearing earrings will need to be able to remove these themselves for PE lessons as staff are not able to support with this

No other jewellery is permitted in school.

Hair and Hair Accessories:

Long hair ( below shoulder length)  should be tied back. Hair accessories should be minimal, plain and preferably in school colours. Hair should be kept out of children’s eyes using headbands, clips and slides.

During term-time pupils are asked not to have fashion hairstyles which include: shaved, dyed or streaked hair, patterns or mohawks. Coloured hair braids, charms, tinsels and feathers should not be worn. Hair should reflect a natural colour.

Nail Varnish:

Nail varnish of any colour is not permitted during term-time. Nail extensions are also not permitted.
