The School Day

The school gates open at 8.20 and close at 8.50.  Children are welcome to go into their classrooms from 8.40 where they will be met by their class teacher.

There is a School Breakfast Club between 8.25 – 8.40am which is 40p per child, per day. Breakfast Club is held in the school hall. This is a drop in Breakfast Club, no booking required and the children will be offered:

  • Cereal
  • Toast
  • Water or Hot Chocolate

Lunchtime and morning break times are staggered to allow all children more space on the playground.  Children in Year 5 and Year 6 have their lunch 12.15-1.15 and all other children have their lunch 12.00-1.00.  Children in Year R to Year 2 are provided with a piece of fruit or vegetable to eat at morning break.  Children in Years 3 to 6 may bring a healthy snack from home or they can buy a healthy snack from the tuck trolley for 30p.

The school day ends at 3.15 for children in Year R to Year 2 and at 3.20 for children in Year 3 to Year 6.

The school also benefits from on site childcare at  Olivers Lodge, which opens for breakfast from 7:30 to 08:50, and after school from 15:15 to 18:00. (See Olivers Lodge Website )

Uniform Shop

Our uniform was developed in association with parents and children and is practical and affordable. We opted for black as the base colour because it is widely available from suppliers of every type so there is no need to go to a special supplier - though the school shop represents great value and is very popular with parents. It is run by parents for parents as a non-profit making enterprise. The shop also sells school fleeces, polo shirts, baseball caps and book bags, all in school colours with the school logo.

The school shop is run from the Music Room on the Junior playground, by two volunteers from the HS.A,

Opening Hours

Welcome to Richard de Clare

Welcome to Richard de Clare Community Academy. Children are at the centre of everything that we do and we aim to ensure that all children have a happy and successful experience at our school.

We believe in firm but fair discipline with an emphasis on positive behaviour management. As a fully inclusive school we welcome all children and work closely with parents and outside agencies to make any necessary adaptations both before admission and during a child’s time in our school.

We place great importance on building a strong partnership between home and school. Children flourish when this partnership is good.

We look forward to working with you and your child as we continue along the path of lifelong learning together. We hope that you will find the information on this website useful. Visits to our school are warmly encouraged.
