Something strange and wonderful happened on the playing field at Richard de Clare School on Monday evening. The trees began to grow books from their branches!
To take advantage of this, the current Reception children and children starting in September were invited to come and explore the forest of books and share them with their families.
Parents and children had a great time sharing their favourite stories or exploring new books. They even discovered a fairy garden and teddy bears’ picnic hidden amongst the trees.
Head Teacher, Mrs Donnelly, said,
“We’re always looking for ways to encourage and foster a love of reading for our children. What better way than to spend a summer’s evening sharing a book.
It’s also a great way to celebrate the strong community ethos we believe in.”
The evening was topped off with a tasty strawberry picnic.
