Pupil Premium

Overview

The Pupil Premium is an allocation of funding provided to all schools in order to close the gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.

Disadvantaged Pupils include pupils who are entitled to free school meals, or have been entitled to free school meals at any point over the past six years, those looked after by the local authority, children adopted from care, and the children of armed service personnel.

The Pupil Premium is additional to main school funding and it will be used by this school to address any inequalities between children eligible by ensuring that funding reaches the pupils who need it most.

Objectives for Pupil Premium at Richard de Clare

  • Provide additional educational support to improve the progress and raise the standard of achievement for these pupils.
  • Narrow the gap between the achievement of these pupils and their peers.

We will ensure that the additional funding reaches the pupils who need it most and that it makes a significant impact on their lives.

Accountability

The Leadership Team will regularly and rigorously monitor, evaluate and review the strategies we have put in place and report to the Governing Body on its progress and impact.

All schools are required to report on the amount of funding received and how it is used. (Please see the Pupil Premium Strategy Statement below for a breakdown of how we spend the Pupil Premium funding and its impact on outcomes).

Rationale

How we decide to spend the Pupil Premium money is influenced by our own evaluations of the needs of the school and by educational research presented by the Education Endowment Foundation (education endowment foundation.org.uk) which has reviewed the key approaches designed to improve pupil outcomes, both in terms of progress and attainment. Please see the Pupil Premium Strategy for further details regarding our rationale for use of the funding.
